Everything was fine as you drove towards your final destination, excited to enjoy a long-awaited dream vacation. That is… until another driver collided with your rental car!
What is 24/7 Road Assistance?
We know this is not how anybody wants to start their holiday. That’s why at Adobe Rent a Car, we offer our customers 24-hour roadside assistance, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, anywhere in the country!
We want you to enjoy your trip to the fullest! Our roadside assistance covers everything from mistakenly locking your keys in the car to full-blown collisions … simple issues like jumping a battery or more serious emergencies that require sending a tow truck or even an ambulance.
How does roadside assistance work?
When a customer calls to report a problem, we’ll ask that they provide some necessary information, including their name, the rental contract number, and the vehicle’s license plate number. If it’s an emergency, we’ll determine if an ambulance, tow truck, or a mechanic is necessary.
In most cases, an Adobe representative will travel to the accident site to provide personalized support. The client may need help communicating because of a language barrier, or they may be scared or upset. If the vehicle is not drivable, we’ll arrange for a taxi service so that the client can reach their destination without further delay.
Once the situation is resolved, we’ll coordinate with the nearest Adobe office to replace the car with an equal or similar model. This way, the client can resume their trip without further setbacks.
Adobe has partnered with several mechanics, tow-truck providers, and taxi services throughout the country. This allows us to respond quickly to meet the needs of our customers.
What to do in case of an emergency?
Although our offices are not open 24-hours a day, Adobe representatives are always available to respond to an emergency.
If the incident occurs between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., please call the central Adobe offices at tel. 2542-4800. If the incident occurs before or after regular business hours, call the Adobe emergency number at tel. 2542-4888.
What does Road Assistance include?
Our 24/7 road assistance service everything you need in case of emergency:
- Towage service for the rented vehicle, when involved in an event.
- Continued trip service for the client to the next destination, whether it is with a taxi cab or private shuttle service.
- Basic road assistance on site.
- Locksmith service, in case you leave your keys inside the vehicle.
- Ambulance service, in case of a medical emergency due to an accident.
- 24-hour service.
- Bilingual call center.
Important: The only service excluded is changing flat tires.
How long does roadside assistance take?
Incident response times vary greatly according to several factors. These include the accident’s location, traffic conditions, the arrival of traffic police, if obstacles are blocking the road, and so on. Despite these factors, Adobe will do everything possible to resolve the situation within one hour.
Total-Coverage Insurance: the wisest decision
Unforeseen events can happen to anyone at the least anticipated moment. That’s why we recommend choosing Adobe’s Extended Protection Coverage, or Total-Coverage Insurance.
For a small additional charge, you and your group will be fully protected. In the event that damages are incurred to the vehicle or a third party, you will pay a ZERO deductible. What’s more, 24-hour Roadside assistance is included with Adobe’s TOTAL COVERAGE INSURANCE at no additional cost.
Imagine how many headaches will be avoided if you don’t have to pay for problems you encounter on the road. For example, if you choose our limited-coverage insurance and get into an accident in Puerto Jimenez, the towing service alone will cost around $500. Add that to the vehicle repair deductible and your costs will multiply!
Note that customers will not be covered for mechanical problems with their vehicle unless they are directly responsible, or if they occur due to negligent behavior. Examples of negligence include driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and driving on off-road terrain such as river crossings, on the beach, or other unofficial territories.
Are there exceptions or surcharges?
Yes, some exceptions apply. For example, changing a tire is not covered with our roadside assistance.
As part of our service, we DO open the vehicle in case you leave the keys inside; however, if the keys are stolen or lost, an additional charge will apply for their replacement.
Interesting driving facts to consider:
- The most commonly requested roadside service is collision/accident assistance.
- Nearly all emergencies occur after 3:00 p.m.
- The places in Costa Rica where roadside assistance is most frequently requested are: San José, Monteverde, Santa Teresa, Nosara, and Guanacaste.
- Mechanical failures are common in Monteverde due to poor road conditions.
- Lost keys are common in Santa Teresa due to theft.
- Vehicle engine damage is common in and around Nosara when drivers attempt river crossings with their rental car.
