The average national temperature in September across Costa Rica is 80 degrees Fahrenheit (about 27 degrees Celsius). You can’t get any better than that!

However, this is a mountainous country, and the higher you go, the cooler it gets. This rule applies no matter what month it is. So, if you plan to visit the Central Valley or Monteverde in September, you should pack clothing for both cold evenings and warm mornings.
