  • 4WD Car rental

If your trip will mainly be on main roads and to easily accessible tourist destinations, you will usually not need a 4WD vehicle. However, if you plan to visit areas such as Monteverde, the Osa Peninsula, Santa Teresa, Nosara, Ostional, mountainous areas, or if you are traveling during the rainy season, we recommend renting a high-clearance SUV and preferably one with 4WD. For these types of routes, Adobe Rent a Car offers recommended options such as the Suzuki Vitara 4WD, Hyundai Tucson 4WD, Kia Sportage 4WD, Hyundai Santa Fe 4WD, or Mitsubishi Montero Sport 4WD, depending on availability. It is also important to check the exact location of your hotel, villa, or Airbnb, as in Costa Rica the destination itself may be accessible, but the final few kilometers may include gravel roads, steep hills, or more challenging access routes. Popular destinations such as Arenal and Rincón de la Vieja are also easily reached with a 4WD rental car.
