Within its boundaries are vast tropical lowland forests, a network of natural canals and waterways, mangrove swamps and estuaries, and a stretch of the steep Talamanca Cordilleras. Puerto Limón is the region’s capital and an important international port for commerce and tourism. Cruise ships regularly stop there as part of their Caribbean ports of call. Hence the Limon dock is a launching point for a wide array of adventure tours along the coast.
Destinations like the stunning Parque Nacional Cahuita (Cahuita National Park) are popular day trips from the Port of Limon. The beachfront park offers powder white sands, miles of coastal walking trails, calm turquoise waters, and pristine coral reefs.

At Adobe Rent a Car, we know Costa Rica’s roads inside and out. We generally recommend a four-wheel-drive vehicle for customers who plan to visit multiple destinations. The added power and lift are a definite plus for navigating rough road conditions.

Actually not! The Caribbean lowlands are primarily flat, and the roads are usually in decent shape. So, you should be fine renting a 2WD sedan or SUV. But not if you’re planning to drive off the beaten track or into the mountains.

The second option is to visit the destinations that are not accessible by car first. For example, attractions like Tortuguero National Park and Barra de Colorado are only accessible by boat or plane. And most tours to these destinations include transportation from San José. Then you can pick up your Adobe rental from our Limon office.

As a third option you can arrange for the delivery of your Adobe car rental in Guápiles or when you disembark from the boat dock in Pavones. Keep in mind that vehicle deliveries do incur an additional fee.

• Drivers must be at least 23 years old to rent a vehicle from Adobe
• Drivers must present an original driver’s license from their home country. The license must be valid for more than two consecutive years from its first issue date.
• Adobe’s mandatory damage deposit must be paid for using one of the following internationally recognized credit cards “tarjetas de crédito.” Mastercard, Visa, or American Express. If no damage or fines are incurred, the entire damage deposit will be returned to the holder. Deposit reimbursement takes two to five business days following the rental end date. 
• Drivers must present a valid passport or cedula (nationals) to rent from Adobe.
