We recommend you drive cautiously and during daylight hours whenever possible. Many side roads in Guanacaste and the Tamarindo area are unpaved and steep, making a 4×4 the safest vehicle to drive. The added clearance, grip, and power are handy when driving on rugged roads. For a full-size Premium 4WD SUV, try our popular Ford Explorer.

At Adobe, we have Tamarindo car rental insurance options to fit your needs and budget. Be advised that Costa Rica law requires renters to pay mandatory liability insurance to cover third parties. In addition, renters must have CDW insurance, or Adobe’s LDW, which provides basic rental car coverage for the rental duration. Some major credit cards offer clients CDW coverage. Ask your Credit Card provider if their CDW covers Costa Rica.
